Healthcare- OAK Street Initiative believes that access to affordable, quality and consistent healthcare is a right for all local communities.  

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was an important starting point for creating access to healthcare for more Americans.  Tenets of the ACA including reform of the private insurance market, expanded Medicaid access for the working poor and improvements to the way healthcare decisions are made can be built upon to ensure that all Americans obtain affordable basic healthcare.

OAK Street also believes that better health is not just about access to the medical system- better health also includes access to healthier choices for all communities.  Healthy food choices in every neighborhood and school can be achieved through OSI developed programs as well as through partnerships with existing community-based programs.
